Huawei’s Mate 50 and 50 pro has this amazing feature!

A day before Apple’s September event, Huawei unveiled the Mate 50 series with Mate 50 and 50 pro. Moreover, it includes a feature that is anticipated for the iPhone 14. Hence it is the capacity to transmit texts through satellite.

It is due to China’s BeiDou global satellite network, which enables connectivity in places without cellular service. As a result, the Mate 50 and Mate 50 Pro will be able to send and receive short texts and use navigation.

The difference in Specification between Mate 50 and 50 Pro

The flagship Mate 50 series features 8GB of RAM and the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 CPU in 4G-only configurations. While the Mate 50 provides a 6.7-inch 90Hz OLED panel. Also, the 50 Pro has a slightly larger 6.74-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. Both have the primary back camera.

The majority of smartphone cameras utilize fixed apertures. So a mobile gap is OK. But the lens itself is so tiny that it’s unlikely to function. 50-megapixel with a variable aperture lens with stops from f/1.4 to f/4. It makes any discernible difference in depth of field in most circumstances.

Huawei Mate 50 series beats rivals to the punch with satellite support

The Mate 50 Pro boasts a better 64-megapixel camera with 200x digital zoom. While the ordinary Mate 50 delivers 100x digital zoom with a lower-resolution 12-megapixel sensor. Both models share a 13-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide angle lens.

Details About Satellite Communication

Satellite communication is indeed a topic that is discussed frequently these days. Recently, T-Mobile and SpaceX announced a collaboration to use Starlink satellites. Further, it is to deliver this capability to T-Mobile customers. Furthermore, reports about Apple’s satellite messaging function have been circulating since last year.

All of these scenarios are likely to have constrained technology at first. According to T-Mobile, its system will support text and even photo messaging. But voice calls and data access won’t be available right away.

And it appears that the Mate 50 phones will only be able to transmit text messages through satellite. And not be able to receive them, based on Huawei’s system description. In each scenario, satellite texting is a backup connection for sending urgent messages in areas without cellular coverage.

Hence it is not a way to stay in touch with group conversations when away from cellular coverage. Whatever the case, we will need to wait at least a little bit longer for the functionality in the US because Huawei smartphones won’t be marketed here.

Stay tuned for future updates!
