FB is losing its grip in the “Top 10” apps as BeReal and TikTok grow

According to an examination of the iPhone App Store statistics, Facebook has been fighting an uphill battle this year to remain among the Top 10 apps in the United States. Tech giant’s huge blue app is struggling in the App Store’s Top Charts due to a generational shift toward more cutting-edge social networking experiences like TikTok and BeReal.

Rankings Fell out of the Top Ten

For example, Facebook has only knocked off the list of the top 10 free iPhone apps in the United States seven times last year. But by 2022, that number has skyrocketed to 97, suggesting that Facebook may lose ground as new apps rise to the top of the App Store’s charts. App analytics business Sensor Tower shared data with TechCrunch showing that, in the first half of 2022, it fell out of this category 59 times.

The company’s performance in the Top 10 has fluctuated in recent years. In addition, a position in the Top 10 Apps is just one metric of an app’s success; it shows how well a company can bring in new users but says nothing about how well it can hold on to its current user base. Facebook has not yet given in on this front. According to data.ai’s quarterly review, it continues to lead in terms of monthly active users.

There has been a plateau in Facebook’s expansion.

For the first time, Facebook lost daily active members in February 2022, while the number of monthly active users stayed relatively stable. Despite steady quarterly growth in DAUs, Facebook’s monthly activities continued to decline following the country’s ban, indicating that the loss of a single market could slow the company’s expansion.

The Downfall in the Previous Quarter!

During the previous quarter, Facebook’s DAUs declined from the last quarter’s reported 1.929 billion to a new low of 1.97 billion. These substantial numbers and the marginal improvement can obscure Facebook’s problems. So maybe it’s not over yet? Plus, the corporation has other offerings besides its flagship app.

Active Users Fall in the Number!

According to data.ai’s “State of Mobile” study, which ranks applications based on their monthly active users around the world, Meta-owned apps dominated in 2018, with Facebook coming in at No. 1. It was surpassed in popularity by WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram before TikTok landed at sixth place. While Facebook is still the most popular social media platform overall, it was just overtaken in the quarter by Messenger, Amazon, and Instagram. TikTok is currently ranked fifth, up from its previous position of seventh.

Final words!

People appear to be looking for alternatives to Facebook in the form of other social networking platforms that offer unique user experiences based on recommendation engines like TikTok or real-life friendships like Snapchat.
