Google Pixel Smartphones get Ready for Android 13 – Here’s the update

Google’s newest mobile operating system, Android 13, went live on Pixel phones and other devices on Monday. It won’t be until later this year that owners of Android handsets from Samsung, Asus, Motorola, and others will be able to download the update.

At Google I/O in May, developers got a sneak peek at Android 13, which was revealed in February. It improves compatibility with Chromebooks, watches, and other Google-powered devices and includes new privacy and security features, including RCS-supported texting and specialized audio for headphones.

The Release Date:

Android 13 features a more prominent implementation of Google’s Material You color science. Google Pixel users have access to a wider variety of color schemes. These color schemes are produced mechanically based on the wallpaper of the user’s phone.

This also means that you’ll be able to find more app icons that work with your preferred color scheme. The menus’ animations have also undergone minor design adjustments to make the process look more polished. The initial release is scheduled for 10 AM PDT on August 15, 2022.

Pixel phones may now download the official version of Android 13

With the release of Android 13, Google has started updating its Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, and Pixel 4a devices (both 4G and 5G). Its source code is now available to outside parties because it has joined the AOSP (Android Open-Source Project).

This release includes several essential improvements

Personalization Options

You-updated content. Material You, the user interface refresh introduced with Android 12, forms the basis for Android 13’s personalization options.

Language Preference

App-specific language preferences. Users are not limited to a single default language setting across all apps.

Powerful Flashlight with brightness slider

A more effective flashlight. Android 13 adds a flashlight brightness slider, although this feature may only be available on more recent smartphones with the necessary hardware.

Other Features

  • Increased efficiency in scanning QR codes. The newest OS can scan QR codes without unlocking your device.
  • When you drag a message to the side of the screen, the corresponding app will launch in split-screen mode. Press and hold the notice for a few seconds, then drag it to the desired location. Mishaal Rahman, a reporter for Android, has a video demonstrating the process.
  • Enhanced ability to manage alerts This function, like the prompt shown in many browsers, requires the app developer to obtain permission before sending notifications.

Conclusion

As Android 13 rolls out to Pixel smartphones, you can quickly check for the update. Please share your thoughts if you upgrade to Android 13 on a Pixel device. Parallel to this, the Android 13 beta program will receive occasional platform updates and quarterly feature drops.
