Get ready for the Saw series to return with ‘Saw VI’ in Oct’23

Saw III concludes with the death of Tobin Bell’s John Kramer/Jigsaw, seemingly ending his sick games of life and death. Six more Saw films followed after its 2006 debut, with Chris Rock’s Spiral: From the Book of Saw having just been released the year before.

The official release date: Saw VI.

These episodes will go on indefinitely. Never, ever, ever. Please don’t be shocked to learn that on October 27, 2023, a new, untitled Saw film will be released. According to a press release by Lionsgate, Kevin Greutert, who directed Saw VI and Saw 3D, will return to the helm.

Synopsis of the Film:

The tenth film in the series appears to be a traditional Saw sequel rather than a Book of Saw spin-off like Spiral, which means more outlandish narrative points and implausible events that would make fans of the Fast and Furious franchise consult the Internet for context.

At this point in the franchise, it would be more of a feature than a bug if this new Saw movie took place at the same time as the first or if Adam, played by original co-creator Leigh Whannell, turned out to be still alive, despite being seen as a skeleton in one of the sequels. Maybe they could even travel to another planet, or perhaps the stars! A horror show hasn’t done that in quite some time.

The Saw Series

Saw

The original film, directed by James Wan, serves as the foundation for the primary, ongoing narrative of the Saw franchise.

Saw II

About a year after Saw, the events in Saw II occur, with Detective Eric Matthews (Donnie Wahlberg) tracking down the Jigsaw Killer and searching for his missing son, Daniel (Eric Knudsen).

Saw III/Saw IV

Six months after Saw II, Saw III and Saw IV co-occur in the series’ craziest plot twist.

Saw V

In Saw V, we pick up immediately following the tragic events of Saw IV, in which John Kramer is killed.

Saw VI

Saw VI starts just a few days after the events of Saw V. In a flashback before the film’s events, we find that the film’s essential character, health insurance executive William Easton (Peter Outterbridge), refused John Kramer coverage that could have saved his life.

Hoffman used the fact that Amanda Young was at least partly to blame for Jill’s miscarriage as a weapon to blackmail her into murder. In Saw III, Lynn Denlon plays the role of Jigsaw.

Saw 3D: The Final Chapter

The events of Saw 3D occurred only a short time after those of Saw VI. (Because Hoffman’s visage has recovered from the bear trapping ordeal of Saw VI.) Between Saw and Saw II, the film’s primary victim, Bobby Dagen (Sean Patrick Flanery).

Conclusion

This show is well-known for making disciples of Jigsaw out of underappreciated characters. The first several films mainly relied on this premise, with the shock ending of Saw II revealing that Amanda Young (Shawnee Smith), the lone known survivor of one of Jigsaw’s earliest traps, is now an apprentice of Jigsaw and hopes to continue his work after he dies.
