Fans of Tolkien, get ready. This year, the first season of ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ will be released in a serialized manner.
There are new characters, a new age, and new mythology set thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings volumes, in addition to a new format.
Here’s all we’ve learned thus far about the series.
What Is The Series About?
The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power brings to life the legendary stories of the Middle-renowned earth’s Second Age.
This epic drama will transport viewers to a time when great powers were born, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, improbable heroes were put to the test, hope clung by the thinnest of threads, and Tolkien’s greatest monster threatened to engulf the entire world in darkness.
The current Lord of the Rings films, directed by Peter Jackson and based on J. R. R. Tolkien’s renowned writings, are among the most lucrative and award-winning films of all time, grossing $2.9 billion worldwide and winning 15 Academy Awards throughout its run.
Tolkien’s novels are essential works of fantasy about power, heroism, and loss, mythopoeic masterpieces credited with bringing the genre into the modern-day.
The series begins in a period of relative calm and follows an ensemble cast of people, both known and new, as they face the long-feared return of evil to Middle-earth.
These countries and personalities will carve out legacies that will live on long after they are gone, from the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains to the gorgeous woodlands of the elf capital of Lindon, to the stunning island kingdom of Nmenor, to the furthest reaches of the world.
