Actor Cillian Murphy is expected to be seen playing the role of the eponymous character of Manhattan Project leader J. Robert Oppenheimer in the famous Christopher Nolan’s atomic bomb drama ‘Oppenheimer’.
“It has skipped the overall exercise of what goes into making an atom bomb”, comes from the reports of ‘The Guardian’.
The actor decided to focus on Oppenheimer’s psyche, mannerisms, and worldview. Murphy is leading first time, his first Nolan tentpole after playing many supporting roles in his previous five of the director’s movies (three ‘Dark Knight’ films, ‘Inception’ and ‘Dunkirk’).
Cillian Murphy who has had a continuation with this association with Nolan mentioned that he would never say no to ‘The Dark Knight‘ director, “I’ll always turn up for Chris, whatever the size of the part.
Chris will call me up and I’m there. Isn’t it wonderful that filmmakers are still making challenging, demanding films within the studio system, shot on film?”
About Movie: Murphy
Oppenheimer is an upcoming American biographical film written and directed by Christopher Nolan. It is based on American Prometheus, a biography of J. Robert Oppenheimer written by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin.
The film is a co-production between Syncopy Inc. and Atlas Entertainment; Nolan produced the film alongside Emma Thomas and Charles Roven.
Cillian Murphy portrays Oppenheimer, the theoretical physicist who is among those credited with being the “father of the atomic bomb” for his role in the Manhattan Project—the World War II undertaking that developed the first nuclear weapons.
Centering on the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, one of the fathers of the atomic bomb who faced exile for being an accused communist, Oppenheimer adapts Martin Sherwin and Kai Bird’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph of J. Robert Oppenheimer with the cast and budget of a blockbuster.
The star-studded cast also includes Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, Matthew Modine, Alden Ehrenreich, and David Krumholtz.
Murphy will portray Oppenheimer, one of the fathers of the A-bomb during the Second World War, who later found his loyalty to the United States questioned by hawkish government officials.
Murphy first teamed with Nolan on Batman Begins (2005), where he portrayed the Scarecrow after auditioning for Batman. He has also appeared in Nolan’s Inception (2010), The Dark Knight Rises (2012), and Dunkirk (2017).

The actor told, “(I prepped by doing) an awful lot of reading. I’m interested in a man and what (inventing the atomic bomb) does to the individual.
The mechanics of it, that’s not really for me – I don’t have the intellectual capability to understand them, but these contradictory characters are fascinating.
