In February 2020, the second season was announced by the production that would have been started in the second half of the year. But due to Covid-19, the schedule was put into a halt. Now, this month, on 21, a source from Studio Dragon confirmed, “The second season of ‘Arthdal Chronicles’ is being prepared with an aim to film this year. The cast, broadcast timing, and platform have not been confirmed yet.”
Arthdal Chronicles Season 2: Highlights
Arthdal Chronicles is an ancient fantasy drama set in Korean history. Here, humans and other races strive to win power, while there are heroes who make their own legends in the mythical land of Arth. The series was written by Kim Young-Hyun and Park Sang-Yeon, and directed by Kim Won-Seok.
Arthdal Chronicles Season 2: Cast
The cast included Song Joong Ki (Eun Seom, Saya), Kim Ji Won (Tan Ya), Jang Dong Gun (Ta Gon), Kim Ok Bin (Tae Al Ha) and more. The series aired from 01 June 2019 to 22 September 2019 on tvN and internationally through Netflix.
The K-drama was the sixth most preferred Korean drama among viewers in the United States market in 2019. It had entered the list of highest-rated Korean dramas in cable television history. It was highly praised for its impressive storyline and a unique setting and touched on subjects like tribe, nation, alliance, religion, and more.
It was previously compared to Game of Thrones, and had claims of plagiarizing. However, the writer Park Sang Yeon denied saying, “We tried to create a great series by building a fictitious world of its own with our imagination and I hope you see our series as it is.”
Season 2: Everything You Need to Know
In a post shared on Instagram on 30 May, 2021 (which was deleted later), the crew seemed to be working on the set. The actor Song Joong Ki seemed to have grown his hair.
