Top Gun, originally released in the year 1986, was the movie that brought Tom Cruise to be a Hollywood superstar. The sequel “Top Gun 2: Maverick” has been in the works for more than a few years, and is finally set to release soon.

Top Gun 2: Maverick
Top Gun: Maverick is an upcoming American action-drama film, a sequel to 1986’s Top Gun. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the film talks about a group of pilots and how new technology will change their lives. It is set in the present day, mainly focused on the character ‘Maverick,’ played by Tom Cruise, as the title suggests. Advanced drones will make their debut and certainly modify the jobs of the fighter pilots. But can technology replace humans?
In 2017, Tom Cruise said in an interview, “Aviators are back, the need for speed. We’re going to have big, fast machines. It’s going to be a competition film, like the first one, but a progression for Maverick.”
In the football pregame speech, Tom said, “America doesn’t root for the timid or the scared or those who back away from a challenge.” Further, he added, “We root for the bold, the brave, the risk-takers who will push to the very limits to succeed. After all, life is more fun when it comes with a little action.”
Tom’s statements give out the thrill and anticipation of the upcoming film. The action, mystery, and the mix of science-fiction will surely prove to be a success, and most probably render in the fans’ hearts for a long time.
Top Gun 2: Release Date
Top Gun’s sequel is finally hitting the theatres 33 years after the first film’s release. The film was originally scheduled for release in July 2019. However, due to some circumstances, it was pushed forward a year, settling for June 2020. Unfortunately, due to the outbreak of coronavirus, it was postponed to December 23, 2020. Again, it got delayed to July 2021, and then November. These delays were occurring every time, causing fans to be disappointed, but they understood the reasons.
Luckily, fans don’t have to be gloomy over it anymore, because the film finally got a new release date. YES! It is set for release in theatres on 27 May 2022. Hopefully, this delay was final, and fans get to experience the nostalgia and sheer excitement of Top Gun soon.
