Alert: Spoilers ahead. The story begins in the year 2019 AD when a strange flash mysteriously freezes all humanity for years. It is finally in the year 5738 that a young boy named Senku Ishigami wakes up.
He starts studying the frozen humans to find out the cause and cure of their frozen state. Soon his friend Taiju Oki wakes up as well. They discover that Nitric acid is the cure. They released Tsukasa Shishio and Yuzuriha Ogawa. Senku wants to rebuild civilization. However, Tsukasa opposes it. He believes that human civilization was flawed and that’s the reason this calamity befell them.
Tuskasa even tries to murder Senku. To fight him, Senku forms an alliance with a tribe. This tribe was unaffected by the flash because they were staying in the International Space Station at the time the calamity struck the Earth. With their help, Senku declared war against the Tsukasian Empire.
He also learns that another tribe called the Petrification Kingdom possesses some rare metals that can mass-produce nitric acid. They also have the device responsible for the flash that froze the world. Senku begins his adventures to get back those devices and precious metals.
