Ippo Makunouchi
He is the titular character in Hajime No Ippo. He is a trainer, a former featherweight JBC champion and a retired featherweight professional boxer from the Kamogawa gym. In order to answer a simple question he started boxing. The question was ” What does it mean to be strong”? Since then it started.
He has developed rivalries with Ichir miyata, Takeshi sends and Ry Mashiba. He has a brotherly bond with Mamoru Takamura, Masaru Aoki and deep trust for his coach, Genji Kanagawa for whom he aspires to become a world champion in order to honor the coach’s teachings.
After retiring from boxing, he became a trainer. He also started working as a second for his gymmates while training Taihei Aoki and Kinter Kaneda.

Hajime No Ippo Chapter 1369: Plot
Ippo Makunouchi was an extremely shy high school student. He is unable to make friends due to being busy always by helping his mother run their family fishing charter business. As he always kept to himself, a group of bullies led by Umezawa goto habit of picking on him.
One day, these bullies grown up to big fight with serious beating, a middle weight professional boxer who was passing by stopped them and took the injured ippo to Kamogawa gym. It was owned by retired boxer Genji Kamogawa, to treat his wounds.
After ippo woke up he heard the voices of boxers who were practicing, The boxers who saved him, Mamoru Takamura, tried to cheer him up. It was then that they had the first glimpse of ippo’s talent for boxing. After this incident, Ippo gave the situation a lot of thought and decided that he would like to begin his career as a professional boxer.
He started practicing daily rough practices including night hours. He also manages the technique in the nick of the time. This is where the journey starts.
