Tokyo Revengers is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Ken Wakui. Japanese weekly magazine, Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine features this manga since March 2017. The popular series is furthermore published by Kodansha USA in English as well. The action-thriller anime first premiered on 1st March 2017.

A total of 24 volumes have been published till now. The anime is directed by Koichi Hatsumi and written by Yauyuki Muto. Music for the anime series is produced by Hiroaki Tsutsumi. Tokyo Revengers is a complex Japanese manga series that takes the viewers through a complicated time paradox. The story follows the life of Takemichi Hanagaki. A 26-year-old freeter is the romantic partner of a middle school girl named Hinata Tachibana. One day Takemichi learns that his partner, as well as her younger brother, Naoto get killed by the Tokyo Manji Gang. Takemichi gets transported into the past, approximately 12 years in the past. All this, simply by “getting pushed in front of a train.”

Takemichi meets a younger Naoto and manages to save him and his sister from getting killed. When Takemichi and Naoto shake hands, Takemichi gets transported back into the present once again. Naoto, meanwhile is a detective having survived death and deduces, that every time they hold hands, Takemichi gets transported into the past. Using his knowledge from the future, Takemichi promises to save his girlfriend Hinata.

Meanwhile, in the past Takemichi’s friends are led into underground matches by a member o the Tokyo Manji Gang named, Kiyomasa. Takemichi, determined to protect them, earns the respect of the gang leader, Mikey. Later on, Takemichi finds out that his friendship with the gang leader, Akkun, proves profitable for him and his friends in the future as it helped him to save a few lives as well. Takemichi discovers in the past that the Tokyo Manji Gang has declared war against Moebius, a rival gang that killed Pah-Chin’s friend.
