The Flash is an American superhero television drama series developed by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Geoff Johns, broadcast on The CW. It is based on DC Comics character Barry Allen, a costumed crime-fighter with superhuman speed.

Based on the same fictional universe as Arrow, it exists within the Arrowverse. Barry Allen, portrayed by Grant Gustin, is a crime scene investigator who gains superhuman speed, which he uses to fight criminals, including those who also possess superhuman abilities.

Gustin’s appearances as Barry on Arrow initially were envisaged as a backdoor pilot, but after his positive reception, executives decided a full series was needed to take advantage of a larger budget and provide more detail around Barry. Canada’s Vancouver is the principal filming location for the series.

Season 8 will begin with a five-episode event titled “Armageddon” that features The Atom, Batwoman, Black Lightning, Sentinel, Cat McNamara, Osric Chau, and Eobard Thawne, among others. Thawne/Reverse-Flash and Damien Darhk, respectively.
