Seraph of the End, also known as Owari no Seraph, is a Japanese manga serialized under Shueisha’s Jump Square Comics. It is written by Takaya Kagami and illustrated by Yamato Yamamoto. It is an action dark-fantasy anime that is popular all around the world. The English-translated version is licensed by Viz Media.
Plotline
The main plot of the manga is that of a world that is wiped out of most humans due to a man-made virus. This leads to the rise of vampires, who enslave the humans that are left. Humans are allowed to live only if they ‘donate’ their blood. They are treated like slaves and are hated widely by humans.
Yuichiro Hyakuya is an orphan at the Hyakuya orphanage. He comes to know about the real reason they are kept at the orphanage and plans along with his friends to escape. However, their plan is disrupted by a vampire named Ferid Bathory. In the attempt to escape, most of his friends die, and Mikaela, his best friend, sacrifices himself to let Yuichiro escape.
To avenge Mikaela and all his friends, he joins the Japanese Imperial Demon Army and works to eliminate vampires. The story develops as Yuichiro grows up along with his team in the Moon Demon Company. It is also revealed that Mikaela is still alive as a vampire, and is trying to find Yuichiro.

The main character of the manga is Yuichiro Hyakuya, a 12-year-old boy who escapes from the Hyakuya orphanage to escape his fate of being a vampire’s blood bag. He loses most of his friends at the attempt, including his closest friend, Mikaela Hyakuya. Mikaela is revealed to be alive as a vampire, who still cares deeply for Yuichiro.
After escaping, Yuichiro joins the Moon Demon Company which exterminates vampires, where he meets Shiroa Hiragi who is the series’ main heroine, Yoichi Saotome who becomes Yuichiro’s first real friend, and other members like Shiho Kimizuki, Mitsuba Sangu, Guren Ichinose.
There are also many villains that Yuichiro fights on his adventure. The manga is filled to the brim with a variety of characters with different traits and personalities.
