A shooting took place at Times Square on Saturday at 5 pm on 44th Street and 7th avenue. The shooter shot three including a 4-year-old girl.
When and Where did the scene take place?
The street was closed and later reopened on Sunday by the police. A 31-year old person seems to be sus to the shooting. The suspect has been identified as Farrakhan Muhammad. The suspect was charged for a random assault last year and is believed to operate as an illegal vendor in the area. The shooting took place after an argument broke out between the suspect and his brother who was the intended target. The bullets missed and hit the three victims.
What Happened to the victims after the shoot?
The victims were taken to the Bellevue Hospital and are doing well. The first victim is a 4-year-old girl from Brooklyn who was toy shopping with her parents and was shot in the leg. She was rushed to the hospital by the police and had undergone surgery. The next victim was a 23-year-old female tourist from Rhode Island and was shot in the thigh. The last victim was a 43-year-old woman from New Jersey shot in the foot.
Public Advocate Williams issued a statement regarding the shooting incident. ” Last night’s shooting in Times Square outraged everyone in the City. I’m even more concerned for those families who have lost their women, girls and daughters on this Mother’s day. And looking forward to the future, that no such incident won’t occur in New York.”
Is there any Suspect in this case?
Police Commissioner Dermot Shea is heading the case and has said in an evening interview that the victims were unintended targets that are not related to one another and despite New York City’s stringent gun laws the city needs more laws to protect the public. Police are currently connecting the scene in Times Square with several angles to get the reason from Farrakhan Muhammad. He is already culpable for numerous crimes. This case dragged where the victims are not connected in any way.
