Santorum’s comments effectively dismissed the millennia-long presence of Native Americans. His comments was not well received within the community that faced genocide in the Christian settlers’ quest to establish the USA.
The aftermath of the Comments
Rick Santorum is facing flak for his comments among the community of Native Americans. Many took to Social Media sites to loathe his comments on the Native American community. To further add insult to injury, Santorum a twice-elected senator, likened the colonization of Native lands to an act of religious freedom. According to him the settlers came here because they were not allowed to practice their particular faith in their own country.
His comments have jolted huge section of society. Meanwhile, a section is not even surprised by Santorum’s comments. They argue that Rick is just saying what most of America believes. They believe the only history that matters is the real “US history”. With many believing, he is not the only lone wolf spreading ill-baked theories.
