Google, predominantly a search engine company has now launched its latest app for scanning documents. Here’s all the latest updates you need to know.

New Document Scanning App from Google

The new app from Google’s Area 120 (it’s internal experimental app programme) has been launched, the Google Stack Scanner App.

It lets you arrange and organise all your documents into one place. Easy to use, convenient and user friendly app. Much like the CamScanner, Microsoft Lens, and other such scanning app.

Google Stack Scanner also stores a copy of your document in Google Drive. It uses Google’s DocAI to analyse, understand and categorie the bills, receipts and documents accordingly.

The app is quick in response. Also, it lets you search for important and crucial data like– due date, total amount due, and so on. It converts all the scanned documents into a PDF, ‘stacks’ up everything.

One can also add in authentication features like face recognition and fingerprint scanner to access the app. As it stores a copy in the Google Drive, it becomes even more convenient to use as the users can get access to any of their scanned documents on the go anywhere.

Launch and Other Updates

Google Stack Scanner App, currently it is only available for the android users of US. The developer has said that the app is in its early stage of development and is still undergoing some tests. There is no news yet as to when the app will be available to the users of the other regions.

Team Leader of Stack, Christopher Pedregal has said in a blog post, “I joined Google a couple of years ago when my education startup, Socratic, was acquired. At Socratic, we used Google’s computer vision and language understanding to make learning easier for high school students. I wondered if we could apply the same technologies to make organising documents easier.”

During this work from home situation, scanner app has become the need of the hour. And one coming in from Google is a big addition to our convenience.
