Shadow and Bone Has a ‘Bright’ Future From the Looks of The Trailer!

Future From the Looks of The Trailer

The new trailer for Netflix’s fantasy series Shadow and Bone has officially been revealed and viewers are not at all disappointed. The series will be available to stream on Netflix from 23 April.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned in the years since Netflix came into our lives, it’s that we trust the streaming service with our viewing decisions—especially when it comes to their fantasy offerings, which have already hooked us on The Witcher and Fate: The Winx Saga (to name a few).

Now, in exciting news for all sci-fi fans, Netflix has provided the green light to the iconic Shadow and Bone trilogy, with showrunner Eric Heisserer on board. The Oscar-nominated screenwriter is known for his work on Arrival, The Thing, and Netflix’s viral horror Bird Box, which stars Sandra Bullock—so we know we’re in great hands.

The series will explore a common war-torn world fraught with “evil powers,” based on a combination of two Leigh Bardugo books, the Shadow and Bone trilogy and the Six of Crows duology.

About Shadow and Bone Netflix series: Official plot

Shadow and Bone is a war-torn world in which lowly soldier and orphan Alina Starkov has just unleashed an incredible force that could be the secret to setting her country free, based on Leigh Bardugo’s worldwide bestselling Grishaverse novels.

With the Shadow Fold’s monstrous threat looming, Alina is ripped from her life to train as part of the Grisha, an elite force of supernatural warriors. However, as she works to improve her strength, she learns that allies and enemies may be the same individual, and that nothing in this affluent world is as it appears. There are dangerous forces at work here, including a gang of charismatic criminals, and survival will require more than magic.

The film adaptation would be “radically different from the novels,” according to author Leigh Bardugo. But don’t worry: she says the changes are made in a “amazing” way, and she’s happy with Netflix’s imaginative take on her books.

Alina Starkov is played by Jessie Mei Li, Malyen Oretsev is played by Archie Renaux, Kaz Brekker is played by Freddy Carter, Inej is played by Amita Suman, Jesper Fahey is played by Kit Young, and General Kirigan is played by Ben Barnes.
