WhatsApp has started sending its in-app notification as reminder to the users to accept the new terms of service and privacy policies.
This is not the first time that WhatsApp has sent notification to remind the users. Prior to this, two months back WhatsApp has sent notifications to update the privacy policies. But many users did not accept it and the news of WhatsApp updating its privacy policies created quite a news. After which WhatsApp came up with a long list as to what, when and how will the privacy policy affect the users.
WhatsApp is now resolute to roll out its new privacy policy on and from 15 May, 2021. Recently, the messaging app has again been sending notifications to its users to accept the terms of service and privacy policy.
The confusion and lack of clarity from the side of WhatsApp has affected the users which in turn has led to this delay in updation of the privacy policy. It was supposed to be out on February 8, but this confusion led to the postponement.
What actually is the new privacy policy?
Spread of misinformation has forced the users to shift in to different other apps like Telegram and Signal. To clear this confusion, WhatsApp came up with a multiple clarification. It issued notice stating all that comes under this updated privacy policy.
People thinking that their personal data and messages will be shared to other apps, this notion was cleared with the issued clarification. WhatsApp stated that all the messages and personal data will remain protected. The chats are end-to-end encrypted. Social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook were used to educate people that there will be no leakage and breach of their data.
The new update will make it easier for businesses to function using the Facebook tools. Private messages will remain as it is, unaffected. Even WhatsApp cannot access the private chats as they are end-to-end encrypted. The latest notification reads, “The terms and privacy policy go into effect on May 15. Please accept these updates to continue using WhatsApp after this date”.
