BAFTA 2021– Nomination Categories
The film ‘The White Tiger’ starring Adarsh Gourav, Priyanka Chopra and Rajkumar Rao has bagged nominations in two categories. Namely Best Actor (lead) and Adapted Screenplay.
On Tuesday, the nominations were announced where 26-year old Adarsh Gourav has been nominated in the Best Actor category.
Among the nominees, there were, Riz Ahmed (Sound Of Metal), late Chadwick Boseman (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom), Mads Mikkelsen (Another Round), Anthony Hopkins (The Father) and Tahar Rahim (The Mauritanian).
Reactions to the nomination:
Adarsh Gourav, the nominee, after hearing about his nomination, he has called it as “surreal”. He says,
“This is unbelievable. It is surreal… I was at the gym. I just found out about the nomination (sic).”
He added, “I saw my phone and there were a lot of messages on The White Tiger WhatsApp group and Pooja Gupte, the DOP called me. This is so unexpected and overwhelming (sic).”
Priyanka Chopra, who is also a part of The White Tiger, has tweeted on Tuesday,
“What a proud moment for Indian talent with 2 BAFTA nominations for an ALL INDIAN STAR CAST! Ecstatic for you, Adarsh Gourav, you are so deserving of this recognition, and congratulations #RaminBahrani, so well deserved.”
She further added, “I feel extremely proud to have been an executive producer on this movie! Let’s get it!”
The White Tiger and Adarsh
Adarsh Gourav, a 26-year old actor made his debut from the film My Name Is Khan. He was also a part of Mom. Adarsh played the role of Balram Halwai in the movie.
His splendid acting in the movie has brought in massive praises and love for him. It is evident enough from the fact that he has been nominated in the Best Actor category of BAFTA 2021.
The White Tiger, a crime drama released in January 2021 is an adaptation of the Aravind Adiga’s 2008 novel of the same name. The story revolves around a poor boy Balram and how he uses his intelligence and wit to come out of that downtrodden and poverty situation.
The starcast includes, Adarsh Gourav, Rajkumar Rao and Priyanka Chopra. The film is directed and co-produced by Ramin Bahrani.
The story tells us how a poor man, for his needs and hunger can go beyond his capacity and fight for his survival.
