As we have seen that the previous seasons of the series revolves around the crime incidents of 1970s and early 1980s respectively. It is expected that the 3rd season will focus on the mid and late 1980s.

Rumours of the cast of Mindhunter having issues among themselves has kept this thought into speculation that whether tha cast will repeat itself or will there be a change in it. The lead actors such as Jonathan Groff (as Holden Ford), Holt McCallany (as Bill Tench), and Anna Torv (as Wendy Carr) are likely to return.

According to reports and sources, Mindhunter will not come up with the season 3 in the recent future i.e. in 2021 or early 2022. Producer-director Fincher, is apparently busy with his other projects. Also, the Covid-19 pandemic has been a barrier for many such upcoming series.

It is disheartening for the fans to hear about the fact that the production has been stopped indefinitely due to unusual reasons, one being funds. Albeit, the drama choreographer, Eric Messerschmidt, in 2020, admitted that the series might get back into production after David Fincher wraps up his first Netflix film, Mank.

However, with the back to back release of the previous two seasons, fans are eager to watch season 3. With all the speculation going around, we hope that the season 3 is not cancelled.
