Mindhunter Season 3: Plot

Mindhunter is an American psychological crime thriller series. It is an adaptation of the true-crime book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit. It is written by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker.

First season of this series came in October 2017 and the second season came in August 2019. Directed by David Fincher. Season 3, however, is now put to hold.

As we have seen that the previous seasons of the series revolves around the crime incidents of 1970s and early 1980s respectively. It is expected that the 3rd season will focus on the mid and late 1980s.

Rumours of the cast of Mindhunter having issues among themselves has kept this thought into speculation that whether tha cast will repeat itself or will there be a change in it. The lead actors such as Jonathan Groff (as Holden Ford), Holt McCallany (as Bill Tench), and Anna Torv (as Wendy Carr) are likely to return.

Tentative Release Date – Or is it cancelled?

There is no official statement from the makers and Netflix whether season 3 of Mindhunter is cancelled or not. Last year in January, Netflix has announced that the series has been put to indeterminate hold.

According to reports and sources, Mindhunter will not come up with the season 3 in the recent future i.e. in 2021 or early 2022. Producer-director Fincher, is apparently busy with his other projects. Also, the Covid-19 pandemic has been a barrier for many such upcoming series.

It is disheartening for the fans to hear about the fact that the production has been stopped indefinitely due to unusual reasons, one being funds. Albeit, the drama choreographer, Eric Messerschmidt, in 2020, admitted that the series might get back into production after David Fincher wraps up his first Netflix film, Mank.

However, with the back to back release of the previous two seasons, fans are eager to watch season 3. With all the speculation going around, we hope that the season 3 is not cancelled.
