This year, Two new major Hollywood movies were released this weekend but due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the collections remained very limited. Yes, we are talking about Chaos Walking, Raya, and The Last Dragon but Tom and Jerry did unexpectedly good in the Box Office.
The Chaos Walking
Tom Holland starrer Sci-fi adventure Chaos Walking was one of the Hollywood films with a lot of potential. But due to the lack of promotions and its restricted release allover the world, it couldn’t do well at the box office.
According to Box Office Mojo, the Doug Liman-directed film Chaos Walking simply failed at the box office as it could only collect $3.8 million in the US over the weekend. Even internationally, the film performed really weekly with total revenue of $2.6 million. The worldwide business of the film till now is 6.4 million.
Raya and The Last Dragon
Raya and the Last Dragon was better but still wasn’t that great of a movie to impact the large audience. The Don Hall & Carlos López Estrada-directed film collected $8.6 million in the US & in total $7.6 million internationally. The worldwide collection reached a total of $26.2 million. Now, this is actually 4 times better than Chaos Walking but still lower than it could’ve done in the normal conditions.
Tom & Jerry
Tom & Jerry which released on Feb 26 was first steady on the lower side as it only collected $6.6 million more at the US box office. The domestic business of the film has now reached $23 million and It has further done a great business of $34.3 million internationally total, which makes its total worldwide collection of the film to be $57.3 million.
Tom & Jerry is the 4th Hollywood film in this pandemic to cross the $50 million mark at the worldwide box office. It will be interesting to see how far it can go after this and can it cross the $100 million mark or not!
