After leaving an indelible mark with his performance in The Night Manager and garnering a golden globe and an Emmy nomination for the same, Tom Hiddleston has locked the deal with Apple TV+ to star opposite Claire Danes in Apple’s upcoming venture The Essex Serpent.
Adaptation of Sarah Perry’s best-selling book, The Essex Serpent spots light on Cora’s (Claire Danes)’s life, a widowed woman, who decides to leave Victoria, London, and starts a new life in a small village of Aldwinter named Essex. There she learns about a superstition that a mythical creature widely known as the Essex Serpent has entered the village once again.
Hiddleston will feature in the series as Will Ransome the most trusted villager and the leader of the community. Hiddleston’s first look from the series has already created a lot of buzz around the series.
Helmed by Clio Barnard, the series is penned by Anna Symon the one who adapted the novel. The two of them are also the executive producer of the series alongside Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Patrick Walters, Iain Canning, and Emile Sherman, while Andrea Cornwell will serve as a producer on the project.
Many of you will be amazed to know that Claire Danes was not the first preference of the makers as Cora, originally Keira Knightley was cast to play the lead but she decided to step down from the show due to concern related to the ongoing pandemic. Under the production of Oscar-winning company See-Saw Films, the series is slated to start filming later this year.
Danes and Hiddleston have already made a special place in fans heart with their performance on the silver screen and now they are all set to leave the viewer amazed with The Essex Serpent, one of the high-profile series on Apple TV+ right now.
While Hiddleston made his silver screen debut a decade ago with his villainous turn in Marvel’s Thor. The actor has been working in the TV industry for more than 20 years now and he is all set to be seen in his character Loki’s solo series on Disney+.
