Fans are eager to see what happens next to Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen), Vision (Paul Bettany), Monica (Teyonah Parris), Agatha (Kathryn Hahn). And everyone else stuck within the Westview bubble now that the first season of WandaVision has ended. So, Will there be more WandaVision in the future?
Obviously, we don’t know and probably won’t for a long time, but those who aren’t ready to let go of WandaVision. Just yet might find some solace in Kevin Feige’s latest, characteristically oblique remarks.
WandaVision is an American television miniseries based on the Marvel Comics characters Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch and Vision. Produced by Jac Schaeffer for the Disney+ streaming service. Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it follows the events of Avengers: Endgame. And shares continuity with the other films in the series (2019).
Is WandaVision Season 2 Happening or Not?
Many speculated that Marvel Studios will order more episodes of the Disney+ show. After it premiered on the streaming site this past January due to its overwhelming success. A second season of WandaVision is not guaranteed at this stage. According to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, who spoke to reporters during a virtual TCA press tour panel.
Despite my best efforts to get a straight response from Kevin, he declined to say if Wanda’s storyline would be continued in a series format. Kevin replied, “I’ve been at Marvel too long to tell a definite no or yes to something. In regards to another season of WandaVision,” later adding, “Season 2 will be determined by the plot.”
Though the situation is still unknown, it appears that WandaVision will not be renewed after all. Instead, the plot would most likely lead MCU fans to the upcoming Dr. Strange film. Which Elizabeth Olsen has already announced will be released in March 2022.
Kevin added during the same interview: “The MCU’s appeal stems from the numerous crossovers between series and films. Often a show will be renewed for a second season. And other times it will be turned into a film and then back into a series.”
“We are keeping in mind a framework that will lead into a season 2 or 3 [on those shows]. Rather than a show like WandaVision that simply goes into a feature film.” Kevin said of other upcoming Marvel series like She-Hulk and Moon Knight. Although, this does not seem to be very promising.
But don’t lose hope just yet, it’s MCU that we are talking about here. And anything is possible in MCU.
