Mercedes Benz- AMG test drivers are testing a new generation of the next-generation SL by taking advantage in the Winter’s last stretch. They are all in charge of fine-tuning the roadster because it will only be sold in the AMG model. They sent some of their development prototypes to a frozen part of Sweden because all-wheel-drive will be available.
This new generation of Mercedes Benz SL AMG also called R232 internally. This generation made its debut globally on the German Autobahn. This is the Eighth Generation SL which was first introduced nearly 70 years ago. A decades before anyone with a smartphone and a well-trained eye could become a spy photographer. Putting miles on test mules was much easier in the 1950s. In 2021, finishing the SL’s development requires shipping fully camouflaged prototypes to a private test track in a remote part of Sweden.
What All We Can Get In This New Generation Of Mercedes Benz SL AMG?
Finer design details (like the shape of the lights) are still hidden under the white and black wrap. The top is offered in red and black, among other colors. It’s evident that the roadster is ditching the current model’s power-folding hardtop. The roadster returning to the power soft top which was taken from the R129 model built until 2001. No amount of camouflage can conceal the next SL’s proportions, which are characterized by a long hood and a short deck lid.
Mercedes Benz had confirmed that the next SL will only be available in AMG tuned variants. They do not have released any technical specifications, but we can hope to get the V8 engine back. There will some variant will also be offered with the straight-six engine to make it more affordable. Yet it will have some new electronics offering too. Sending power to the four wheels will turn the SL into a year-round driver for many enthusiasts. Rear-wheel-drive will likely come standard, but another first on the specifications sheet is the availability of 4Matic all-wheel-drive.
