‘Shadow and Bone’, Novel-Turned-TV Series: Release Date and Updates

Shadow and Bone is a fictional adventure Novel written by an American author, Leigh Bardugo. Published in the year 2012 (June 5), the novel is all set to make its way into the Television.

TV serial adaptation, Shadow and Bone, will make it to the screens next month. It premieres on 23 April 2021, streaming platform is Netflix. Teaser trailer that was released on 26 February 2021, has created a quite a stir among the fans.

Main protagonist, Alina Starkov, will be played by Jessie Mei Li. Apart from the this the starcast includes– Archie Renaux as Malyen Oretsev. Freddy Carter as Kaz Brekker, Amita Suman as Inej. Kit Young as Jesper Fahey, and Ben Barnes as General Kirigan.

Netflix adaptation ‘Shadow and Bone’ is based on the Leigh Bardugo novel, Shadow and Bone. It will be an eight-episode season. It is the first of the Grisha trilogy. The other two successor of this are– Siege and Storm in 2013 and Ruin and Rising in 2014.

The plot of Shadow and Bone revolves around ‘Ravka’, a kingdom full of monsters and hideous creatures. As the story unfolds, we see how an orphan, Alina Starkov, unleashes her supernatural powers while she is on a mission. This happens when she is attacked by monsters from the Shadow Field. Later she gets recruited by an elite magical army named Grisha. Her extraordinary magical powers might set her country free.

What do we expect?

Looking at the first-look pictures released by Netflix and the trailer and teaser. We can expect that the screenplay is set on a cold climate place with dark scenic impressions. The surrounding gives tha feeling of a war-torn environment and military vibes.

After reading the novel, the fans have undoubtedly been waiting for the television release of this fantasy. And after the date release it is even more exciting for all of us to see. Whether the TV series will do justice to what has been penned down Leigh Bardugo. Till then we have to wait patiently and anticipate whether or not it will be worth watching.
