HIS LAST ROLE:
His last role was Levee Green in George C. Wolfe’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. But little did the world know he was struggling with colon cancer. He struggled with this illness privately and never told anyone, even his co-stars. He was just 43 years old when he said goodbye to this world. Today he won the Golden Globe for the best actor in a dramatic film for the movie Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. His wife accepted the award and gave a powerful speech.
SIMONE LEDWARD BOSEMAN’S SPEECH:
He would thank God. He would thank his parents. He would thank his ancestors for their guidance and their sacrifices. He would thank his incredible team. He would say something beautiful, something inspiring, something that would amplify that little voice inside of all of us that tells you, you can, that tells you to keep going, that calls you back to what you are meant to be doing at this moment in history. He would thank George C. Wolfe, Mr. Denzel Washington. I don’t have his words but we have to take all the moments to celebrate those we love. So, thank you HFPA for this opportunity to do exactly that, and honey, you keep them coming. Thank you.
