She is the youngest American who survived bone cancer and became the astronaut, the first person with a prosthetic body part to visit space, and the youngest to Orbit Earth. A 29 year old lady will be joining the world’s first all-civilian space mission crew.

“I’ve held onto the biggest secret of my life for a month and a half. So now I get to share it with the world” Hayley says in an interview with BBC.

Hayley had been admitted to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee, as a cancer patient of bone cancer when she was a child and now she works at the hospital as an employee. The opportunity to join all-civilian space mission crew was give by the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. As a treatment doctors had to do chemotherapy and surgery of some of her leg bones with the Artificial ones.

Who’ll be accompanying her?

Space X made the rocket named Falcon 9, which was founded by the business mogul Elon Musk. Hayley was at Floroda when she received an unexpected offer to join the mission on call to which she excitedly said yes.

The sources said there will not be professional astronauts but a total of three members and Jared Isaacman, 38 yr old flight commander will be there on the spacecraft. Moreover, besides Hayley there will be two other member, one, the winner of a sweepstake competition and another one will be the winner of contest which was made by Shift4. As, Jared Isaacman is the man who’s paying for this whole mission that’s why he has to make choice for the other two members besides Hayley.

“From the start, we wanted a crew member that represented the mission’s spirit of hope. I can’t think of a better person than Hayley to fulfil that responsibility”, says Jared Isaacman.

What Hayley has to say about this opportunity? 

“I’m really not nervous. I’ve met the lead engineers for every aspect of this mission. I really trust them. Getting to represent cancer patients and survivors is an incredible honour. It really wasn’t that long ago that I was in their shoes. When you’re going through cancer treatment, you’re so focused on the day-to-day. It can be really difficult to look toward the future. I hope that this mission will allow them to imagine their future”, says Hayley showing her excited for this mission and how blessed she feels.

The journey will begun after a few days of training. It is likely to be done at the following end of 2021.
