Early Years
Robyn Rihanna Fenty aka Rihanna was born on 20th February 1988 in Barbados. Her parents were accountant Monica Braithwaite and warehouse supervisor Ronald Fenty. Rihanna faced many domestic violations abs suffered headaches. But country music and reggae music helped her to overcome her sufferings. Rihanna started rising in the early 2000s. In 2003 she formed a band with her 2 schoolmates. Their group auditioned in many times.
In the meantime Evan Rogers, discovers Rihanna and managed her to record 2 demo songs. The songs ‘Pon de Replay’ and ‘The Last Time’ later added to Rihanna’s debut album ‘Music of the Sun in 2005. ‘Music of the Sun’ was positioned at 10 on the Billboard 200 in 2005; also it received gold certification from Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Her second single song: ‘If it’s Lovin’ that You Want’ was released. Rihanna even made her acting debut in Bring It On: All or Nothing in 2006.
Straight to Rising
Rihanna released her second album ‘A Girl Like Me’ was released in April 2006. Later in 2007, Rihanna recorded a single ‘Roll It’ with J-Status and Shontelle. Her third album ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ was released too and this time her songs got massive positive reviews.
Rihanna got her 1st Grammy for ‘Umbrella’ in the same year. Entertainment Weekly named her ‘Diva of the Year’ in 2008, for her ‘newfound staying power.’ Rihanna performed Glow in Dark Tour with Kanye West. Her 3 new singles ‘Disturbia’, ‘Take a Bow’, and ‘If I Never See Your Face Again’ added to her ‘Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded’ album.
In 2009, after overcoming from an abusive relationship with boyfriend Chris Brown, Rihanna featured her new single ‘Run This Town’ by Jay-Z. She also recorded her 4th album ‘Rated R’ in the same year. It gained 4th position on the US Billboard Hot 200. In 2010 her collaborative song ‘Love The Way You Lie’ with Eminem became hugely successful. Rihanna also collaborated with Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, Drake, David Guetta and many others.
In 2010, Rihanna’s fifth album ‘Loud’ got released. It’s lead song ‘Only Girl (In The World)’ brought her another Grammy for Best Dancing Recording. In 2011, Rihanna released singles ‘Man Down’, and ‘California King Bed’. In November 2011, her 6th consecutive album ‘Talk That Talk’ debuted and got 3rd and 1st positions for U.S & U.K’s most sold albums. Between 2012 to 2020 Rihanna released albums such as: ‘Unapologetic’ & ‘Anti’. She is currently working on her 9th album.
