Regina King All Set To Produce and Star In Shirley Chisholm’s Biopic- Know Everything About The Movie

Regina King, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and a Primetime Emmy Award winner is now all set to get back in the filming business again. Regina was a full time acteress until she decided to make her debut in directing. She directed TV shows like This Is Us, Scandal, and Insecure; and her first feature film, One Night in Miami.

This time she’s setting her hands on producing too. The movie will also be produced by Participant. Resources have confirmed that Regina is going to produce and star in Shirley Chisholm biopic. It almost took a decade to Regina to get a green flag for the movie.

The motion picture titled Shirley centers on her memorable presidential campaign giving ‘an insinuate, behind-the-scenes representation of one of the foremost ground-breaking political pioneers of our time.’

 Who was Shirley Chisholm ?

Shirley born in Brooklyn, New York, on November 30, 1924, was the first African American woman. She also ran for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination in 1972 and became the second African American in the New York State Legislature.

She was a co-founder of the National Women’s Political Meeting in 1971, and in 1977 got to be the primary Dark lady and moment lady ever to serve on the capable House Rules Committee. That year she hitched Arthur Hardwick Jr., an New York State lawmaker.

How King feels working with John Again?

Regina King will not only produce the film but also will star as the lead in the biopic. Shirley is being composed and coordinated by John Ridley, who won an Oscar for his adjusted screenplay for 2014’s Best Picture 12 Years A Slave. He has also previously worked with Regina on the TV arrangement American Crime.

King said in an interview that, “Shirley Chisholm’s fearless determination has been an inspiration to so many of us, and with this film we hope to inspire many generations to come.”

She even commented on working with director John Ridley saying, “To collaborate once again with my friend and mentor, John Ridley, and the team at Participant, makes this decade-long journey even sweeter.”
Filming is set to start afterward this year.
