Looks like our Elijah Mikaelson has a new girl in his life. Daniel Gillies shared a picture this week on his Instagram, introducing her girlfriend Julia Misaki to his fans. He announced this after about seven years when he divorced his wife Rachel Leigh Cook. The now estranged couple share two children together.
The Divorce and Future
Gillies married actress Rachael Leigh Cook in August 2004. They have two children together – a daughter Charlotte,7 and a son, Theodore,5. In 2019, both Cook and Gillies told their followers on Instagram that they have decided to separate mutually. Moreover, they said that they wanted this to be discreet for the sake of their children. Later in 2020, Gillies filed for divorce.
In August 2020,in an interview with Us Weekly, Cook told how they had to break the news to their children. She told them that it was a decision of grown ups and that they will always be their parents. Everything will be the same except the face that their parents won’t be married anymore.
Cook further said that all four of them were still adjusting to the new situation. While She and Gillies were slowly taking the co-parenting, she acknowledged that the children did it understand the situation fully. They did cry when they heard the news and still get upset sometimes. But this is where they step in to assure them, showing a healthy family dynamic.
Daniel Gillies’ New Girlfriend
On Thursday, February 11, The Virgin River star shared a story on his Instagram. The story had a picture of him and Julia Misaki enjoying the beach at sunset. The picture shows Julia resting her head on his shoulder. While this sounds like a casual friendly picture at this point, Gillies also drew a heart on the picture.
Julia’s Instagram currently has no pictures with Gillies. They have not explicitly confirmed that they are dating yet. But the picture seems to confirm that.

Julia is a cellist and an actress by profession. She grew up in Osaka, Japan and studied Bachelors in Fine Arts (Acting) at Emerson College in Boston. She also studied Shakespeare at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. As an actor, she appeared in shows like Simmer Down!(2014) and Video Game High School(2012).
On her Instagram, which has more than 43k followers, she shares pictures and videos of her photoshoots and cello performances.
