Jurassic World 3: Sam Neil Says Filming is Done, 2021 Release Date Expected

The Jurassic World franchise is all set to have its third movie: Jurassic World: Dominion. The film was announced in 2018 and started filming in July 2020. Due to the Corona Virus pandemic, the filming was delayed. However in November, Jurassic World: Dominion’s shooting has finally concluded. Actors and filmmakers confirmed the news. Here are all the details.

Sam Neil says the shooting is done

Actor Sam Neil is reprising his role of paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant in Jurassic World: Dominion. He is excited to reprise his role after 27 years in Jurassic Park. In an interview with Variety, the actor said: “ It’s going to be a big film. [Director] Colin Trevorrow has that childlike sense of wonder, playfulness, and inventiveness that [Steven] Spielberg has. We really shot a six-hour movie. We were all very gung-ho.”

In November 2020, director Colin Trevorrow took to Twitter to announce the news of filming completion. He wrote: “Wrap on Jurassic World Dominion. All my gratitude to my extraordinary crew and cast. We made a family.” In an interview with Deadline Colin said: “It has been remarkable. Our cast and crew have been so resilient. All producers have worked around the clock to make it the best it can be. It has been inspiring.”

Release Date

Jurassic World: Dominion was originally scheduled to release in June 2021. But Universal Pictures delayed the release for almost 1 year due to the pandemic crisis. The filming started late that’s why the producers took the decision. The new release date is June 10, 2022.

Director Colin Trevorrow shared that he bringing back the old cast of Jurassic Park. However, the cast of Jurassic World will remain the same in the upcoming movie. Sam Neil, Laura Dern, Jeff Blum will reprise their Jurassic Park role of Dr. Alan Grant, Dr.Ellie Sattler, and Dr. Ian Malcolm. Chris Pratt (Owen Grady), Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire Dearing), Isabella Sermon (Maisi Lockwood), Justice Smith (Franklin Webb), Daniella Pineda (Zia Rodriguez), Omar Sy (Barry Sembene), BD Wong (Henry Wu), and more.

Colin Trevorrow shared his opinion on this casting: “We’d brought back Dr.Henry Wu first because he was the man behind the science and the only one who made sense. Otherwise, we’d have to had to come up with a reason why Ellie, Malcolm, and Grant all went to the theme park on the exact same day it broke down again.” He also added: “But the next film follows the legacy characters to be a part of the story in an organic way.”
