Megalo Box is coming with its second season. The internationally acclaimed anime series has a good fan base. The season 2 release date is confirmed by TMS Entertainment. Here are all the details.
Release Date
TMS Entertainment announced on February 1 that Megalo Box season 2 is going to be released in April 2021. The full title of season 2 is Megalo Box: NOMAD. The series will premiere on Japan’s Tokyo MX And BS11.
Megalo Box is originally based on Asao Takamori and Tetsuya Chiba’s Tomorrow Joe. Season 1 was released in 2018. The Megalo Box series was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original manga. The series director is Yo Moriyama. The scriptwriters are Katsuhiko Manabe & Kensaku Kojima and the music composer is Mabanua.
Plot
Megalo Box is the story of young boxer Junk Dog. The Megalo Box is originally a game similar to boxing. The only difference is in Megalo Box players wore metal frames.in this series, Japan is shown to be divided in two parts. One part is licensed citizens and another is unlicensed citizens. Licensed citizens live a healthy life in an advanced city. Whereas the unlicensed citizens live in slums.
Moving on to Junk Dog- who basically fights as a fixed player. His coach Gansaku Nanbu uses him to run his illegal ring. One day, Junk Dog accidentally crashes his motorcycle on Shirato group’s head Yukiko Shirato. To defend himself Junk Dog gets involved in a fight with Yukiko’s bodyguard Yuri. Yuri is one of the best Megalo Box fighters.
Yuri beats Junk Dog and challenges him to fight him in the Magnolia tournament. To get into the Magnolia, Junk Dog forges his id with the help of Nanbu and Fujimaki. Thus Junk Dog gets a new identity of Joe. Now they only have 3 months to prepare Joe for the tournament. In the end, Joe wins.
However, season 2 has taken 7 years to leap from the Magnolia win. In the teaser, we could see Joe is overwhelmed and calls himself Nomad. He is worshipped by his fans. His journey after the win will be shown in season 2.
