The Johnny Depp and Amber Heard conflict has become a sensation over the last few months. After losing the case against The Sun UK, Johnny got replaced in his movie Fantastic Beasts 3. That role has moved to actor Mads Mikkelsen. This led his fans to create a petition against Amber Heard.If Warner Brothers considers this public petition, Heard might get replaced in Aquaman 2 from her role Mera. Here are the actresses who might replace Amber Heard in Aquaman 2.
Emily Blunt
Rumors are, Warner Brothers are considering English actress Emily Blunt to replace Heard in DCEU. The 37 year old actress was originally chosen for Black Widow in MCU. This means the actress has a connection with superhero films. Though there is no official announcement till now regarding Blunt’s casting as Mera. Blunt’s new project is Netflix’s Ball & Chain.
Emilia Clarke
Another potential choice for Mera is actress Emilia Clarke. She is mostly famous for her Game of Thrones character Daenerys Targaryen. Clarke has created a huge impact among her fans through her portrayal of Khaleesi. Although her and Jason Mamoa’s chemistry was liked in GOT and fans wanted the same in Aquaman 2. However no official confirmation has been given in this casting too.
Blake Lively
Fans have created many arts featuring Blake Lively as Mera. That resemblance is astonishingly uncanny. Instagram user @spdrmnkyxxiii has made a fan art of Blake Lively as Mera. Fans want Warner Brothers to look upon this choice.
Ana De Armes
Actress Ana De Armes is also suggested by fans to play Mera in Aquaman 2. Ana has done incredible films such as: Knives Out, Blade Runner 2049. War Dog etc. Fans also suggested that, Ana’s physique and look will be perfect for Mera. Ana De Armes is currently shooting for Marilyn Monroe’s biopic ‘Blonde’.
Conclusion
However in November 2020, Amber Heard gave a statement that she will continue to play Mera in Aquaman 2. She told Entertainment Weekly: “I’m super excited about the amount of fan love and the amount of fan appreciation that Aquaman has acquired and that it has garnered so much excitement for Aquaman and Mera that it means we’ll be coming back. I’m so excited to film that.”
Though chances are still against Amber Heard. Nobody knows what Warner Brothers will do finalizing Aquaman 2’s cast. No schedule for shooting has been made. Fans have to wait until Warner Brothers gives any official statement.
