Chicago P.D. is an American police legal drama television series created by Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead as a part of Wolf‘s Chicago franchise. The series aired on NBC as a mid-season replacement on January 8, 2014.
The show is about uniformed patrol officers and the Intelligence Unit of the 21st District of the Chicago Police Department as they pursue the perpetrators of the city‘s major street offenses. On February 27, 2020, NBC renewed the show for an eighth, ninth, and tenth season. The eighth season aired on November 11, 2020.

In ‘In Your Care’ episode, the little girl runs up to Burgess, with whom she is meant to be. Burgess finds out from Mikayla’s guardian Kathy that she can’t do take care of the young girl, as Burgess already saw her pills.
The little girl is with DCFS, and while Burgess tries to help Kathy understand that she could be a good mom, but to no use. Kathy tries to make Burgess put in her shoes asking her who she is. If there was any time that Burgess would want to adopt the little girl, it would be now.
