Michael B. Jordan’s Eric Stevens who plays the bad guy Killmonger is dead in MCU, but there are chances that he could be used again in the sequel Black Panther 2. When Black Panther was first released in the year 2018 it became a massive office hit, it was appreciated with positive reviews. A major reason for it to happen was because of Michael B. Jordan’s performance as Killmonger, who was called as the character with the best villain role in the MCU.
Following are the theories that Fans have made about Eric Stevens who plays Killmonger in the Black Panther will be back in the sequel.
Namor revives Killmonger
At the end of Black Panther, Eric was badly wounded during the final battle with T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman). After being allowed to watch the sunset in his last moments, he said to Black Panther, “Bury me in the ocean with my ancestors that jumped from the ships. Because they knew death was better than bondage.” Many are contemplating that “bury me in the ocean” meant something and that it could lead to his return in Black Panther 2.
Flashbacks
The easiest way to show any dead character is to have them show in flashbacks. It is one way to give Killmonger more screen time in MCU. Which character would be experiencing a flashback of the memory with Killmonger in it? Killmonger’s story has already been narrated and there may not be anything in his past that needs to be explored. Possibly the only way a Killmonger flashback would justify in the sequel if Black Panther 2’s villain is a person who came across Eric at some point in his past.
The Astral Plane
The explanation for Killmonger’s return that feels the most reasonable is that he appears via the Astral Plane. With the Heart-Shaped Herb, both T’Challa and Eric have been able to communicate with dead characters. So if a Black Panther 2 character were to use the Heart-Shaped Herb, they could possibly speak with Killmonger. A scene where he gets to share his thoughts on whatever conflict the main protagonists are dealing with will be the best way Black Panther 2 could use Killmonger without ruining his ending from the first movie.
