When the agreement between Marvel and Netflix ended, the future of all the characters in the Netflix series like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage became uncertain. Back then Marvel Studios mentioned that they won’t be able to use the characters for some time. However, Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios did show an interest in bringing them back.
A number of rumours have said that Charlie Cox could return as Daredevil/Matt Murdock in the future Marvel projects. Now looks like Krysten Ritter could also return as Jessica Jones in similar projects.
About Jessica Jones Series
Jessica Jones began airing on Netflix on 2015. The story is about a woman with superpowers who initially was a superhero. When Kilgrave made her murder, she give up the superhero life and becomes a private investigator. Kilgrave later returns, and Jessica Jones decodes to stop his evil plans.
In later seasons, she finds out that her mother is not dead. But she gets killed at the end by Trish Walker, Jones’ best friend and adoptive sister. The third season shows Jones avenging her mother’s murder against Trish, who has gained powers herself.
How Could She Make a Comeback?
For Charlie Cox, there have been a couple of rumours like his possibility to appear in the third Spiderman movie. For Ritter, speculations are that she could become a part of the upcoming series She-Hulk. The series would feature Tatiana Maslany and Mark Ruffalo as the lead characters. Jessica Gao will be the showrunner.
While Feige did not comment on whether we would be able to see the Netflix characters back in any way, Krysten Ritter does seem to be interested in reprising the role. According to her, she does doubt that she would get to play it again. But she is all in to play it if the opportunity comes.
Ritter adds that Jessica Jones was the coolest character she got to play and she had pride in the time and effort she gave to portraying her. To her, playing her again would be dream come true and it’s too soon to say ‘no more’.
How Certain Is That?
As of now, return of any Netflix series character, including Cox and Ritter is not officially announced. But considering the fan love, they should come back anyhow. With a comeback, we mean as core characters and not merely cameos. She-Hulk is planned for a 2022 release with ten episodes.
Whether Ritter will be back, it will only be certain when production for the series begins. The lease period for Daredevil is over, and for Jessica Jones, it will be over before 2022. Let’s wait who we get to see first.
