Good news for all, as Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that HBO Max will stream movies like The Matrix 4, Dune, The Suicide Squad and all-new Warner Bros. movies which are scheduled for release next year, thereby making them available to viewers on the very same day as theatrical release, for no added cost. Some Other Movies to be Released
Some other movies on the slate, which are set to come out in the following years include expected box-office hits like Sopranos prequel The Many Saints of Newark, The Little Things, Judas and the Black Messiah, Tom & Jerry, Godzilla vs. Kong, Mortal Kombat, Those Who Wish Me Dead, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, In The Heights, Space Jam: A New Legacy, Reminiscence, Malignant, King Richard and Cry Macho.
Each of these films will be available for a duration of 30 days since release, and then will continue theatrically. Previously, Warner Bros announced that on December 25th, 2020, the fans will also be able to watch Wonder Woman 1984 on HBO Max.
Why Was This Step Taken
This step was taken to counter the havoc caused on the film industry due to the ongoing global coronavirus pandemic. Warner Bros. announced their decision as a “consumer-focused distribution model”. Though most of the American theatres have decided to operate at a reduced capacity in the time to come, but to ensure unhampered release of it’s blockbusters without delay, Warner Bros. has adopted this new distribution model.
Ann Sarnoff, chair and CEO, WarnerMedia Studios said, “With this unique one-year plan, we can support our partners in exhibition with a steady pipeline of world-class films, while also giving moviegoers who may not have access to theaters or aren’t quite ready to go back to the movies the chance to see our amazing 2021 films,”.
Some Already Released Films
Some other films that were released in certain theatres and were also available for streaming online include: Palm Springs and Happiest Season on Hulu; Mulan, Hamilton, Black Beauty and Soul on Disney+; Greyhound on Apple TV+; and The Witches on HBO Max.
