Among Us is an online game which was developed by American game studio ‘InnerSloth’.
InnerSloth released this social deduction game three years ago on June 15, 2018. This online multiplayer game was also published by InnerSloth. In June 2018 it was released only for iOS and Android devices and then later in November 2018 it was released for Windows that features cross-platform play.
The success story of Among Us 1
When it was released three years ago it wasn’t that famous and loved by gamers the way it became last year. In 2020 this amazing and breathtaking game saw the excessive increase in the number of players.
This tremendous rise in players happened because of the Among Us immediate increase in popularity on the world’s leading live streaming platform for gamers ‘Twitch’.
If we SensorTower then last year this InnerSloth game gained 18.4 million mobile downloads only in the month of August and the counting surpasses the August downloads when the game gained massive 41.9 million mobile downloads in September.
Bad news for Among Us fans
Last year was a golden year for this murder-mystery game as it achieved great heights last year. Well, numbers are speaking the success story for this game. When a game is this hit fans and gamers start craving for the sequel but gamers we have bad news.
‘There won’t be a sequel of Among Us’ yes; you heard it right there won’t be Among Us 2 in 2021 instead there will be major changes and new things to see in the Among Us 1 in 2021.
Co-Founder’s statement
Last year on September 23, 2020, PuffballsUnited, the co-founder of InnerSloth came forward and gave a statement that cleared all the doubts related to the sequel of the game and what will happen in the future.
He said, “Hey everyone, PuffballsUnited here! It’s been a very exciting time for us the past few months! We’ve absolutely loved seeing everyone enjoying Among Us! Forte has been working hard to get the servers adjusted to deal with the huge influx of players. Thank you so much for bearing with us through these growing pains. Hopefully, we can get started on new content soon! Speaking of new content-Us devs have had several long discussions about what we want to do with the game. When do we stop working on Among Us 1? What content goes into Among Us 2?”
The co-founder then added, ” The main reason we are shooting for a sequel is because the codebase of Among Us 1 is so outdated and not built to support adding so much new content. However, seeing how many people are enjoying Among Us 1 really makes us want to be able to support the game and take it to the next level. We have decided to cancel Among Us 2 and instead put all our focus into improving Among Us 1. All of the content we had planned for Among Us 2 will instead go into Among Us 1. This is probably the more difficult choice because it means going deep into the core code of the game and reworking several parts of it. We have lots of things planned and we’re excited to bring new content to everyone as you continue to enjoy playing.”
He promised many new things in the game that will happen soon and he concluded his statement by adding, “We have lots of other things planned too; we just need to prioritize and organize all our plans. Stay tuned!”
