Dustin Hoffman is very popular American actor as well as a filmmaker. He is currently 84years old and has worked in almost every hit movie and stage plays.
Dustin started his career by acting in theaters and hi first act was ‘A Cook do Mr. General’ in 1961. He has received a good number of awards for his fantastic performance in his films in all types of characters.
Despite his on-screen great performance, off-screen he is very arrogant and inhuman. His reputation is is not good because of his misbehaviors behind the scenes. Let’s have a look at some of them.
Dustin under fire crew claims his bad behaviour
Dustin is well known for his acting skills. But before that people remember him for lots of controversies which he has been a part of.
Dustin’s misbehaviors are always discussed among his co-actors and directors. There are many such directors who deny working with Dustin for the second time. Dustin has showed his arrogance to almost everyone in the industry whom he has worked with. He gets angry on directors who don’t work according to him.
Many popular faces including Meryl Streep and Sydney Pollack who have accused Dustin for being rude and inhuman. Sydney Pollack said that he faced a lot of problems while working with Dustin on the sets of Comedy film ‘ Tootsie ‘.
Slapping his co-actor Meryl Streep
One of his co-actors, Meryl Streep alleged him of slapping her while shooting. This happened on the sets of ‘Kramer Vs Kramer’ which was Meryl’s first movie.
She was not ready for the shot and Dustin slapped her without even telling her about the scene. Meryl said,”This was my first movie,and it was my first take in my first movie and he just slapped me”. She continued her allegation,”You will see it in the movie. It was overstepping”.
However, it was their first and last movie together after this incident.
How did Dustin Hoffman defend himself?
Dustin Hoffman had never denied any of the allegations put over him. But to keep his image perfect, he defended himself in such a way that everything seemed so positive.
On his incident with Meryl, Dustin said in an interview,”I am sure I was acting out on her throughout the movie”. Moreover, he put all the blame on her wife. He continued,”Stuff that I was feeling toward the wife that I was divorcing in real life”.
Apart from all this, Dustin thinks that to become a successful actor and a real artist, one should have control over certain things. “If I am going to spending two and a half years of my life on a project, I’ve got to be more than a support actor”, said Dustin.
Biggest allegation Dustin faced?
The biggest allegation that Dustin faced was fee years back. He was accused of sexually predatory behaviour by many women in the industry. Many photos were viral and his reputation went from bad to worse.
