Elon Musk claimed recently at an award show that he will, confidently and positively send humans to Mars by 2026. However, he also added that if he becomes successful at the speed he wants to work at, it might also happen in the year 2024.

SpaceX and Nasa have carried out many projects together. In fact, Nasa itself has claimed that they are planning to send humans to Moon by the year 2026. However, they do believe that this is a far fetched dream and may not have a lot of chances to be achieved.

The prototype of Starship, SN8 which Musk is planning on using for this trip to Mars is scheduled for a test sometime soon. They are going to test it by planning a target altitude which is the highest any starship has flown – 9 Miles.

So, does the claim hold any possibilities to be accomplished?

The journey to Mars takes about six months. This also means that the members present on the spacecraft will be exposed to cosmic radiations the entire time which is proven to be extremely harmful to them.

In order to avoid the occurrence of this, the requirements may add up more weight to a spacecraft that has not yet been launched, for a six-month journey.

In addition to this, they will also have to come up with a method to restock and refuel in a manner that should be possible on the planet Mars. So, in conclusion, there a thousand problems that stand between planet Earth and the journey to Mars.
