The retired wrestler aka The Rock is an American- Canadian actor, producer, businessman and a former football, American and Canadian, player. Not only in the wrestling ring but also in the movies, he remains the best at everything.

The reason behind the name, “The Rock”.
Before coming into the Hollywood world, he was a great wrestler in WWE. He’s the grandson of Peter Maivia, the former wrestler and son of Rocky Johnson, a former wrestler as well. Johnson was known as Rocky Maivia, his ring name. But his name didn’t suit him. The fans and audience used to chorus “Rocky sucks” and “Rocky Die”
In 1997, Jhonson kept his name “The Rock” and removed Rocky Maivia as her name. This name suits his personality and liked by fans. After this, he became everyone’s favorite.
Johnson wanted to pursue acting, after gaining popularity in wrestling. He left wrestling and chose acting as his full time profession. Meanwhile, his characters in the movie was loved by his fans and made new fans.
Although he was a famous personality but someone from the Hollywood asked Johnson to drop his wrestling look and go for an actor look.
“I was told at that time by the management that I had around me, ‘You know, you have to forget about your past. You can’t bring wrestling up. We have to slowly leave that behind. Let’s not refer to yourself as The Rock. Let’s make sure that everybody is calling you Dwayne Johnson,” Johnson said this in the British Show, 2018.
After trying his best to loose weight, he decided to not change himself and his personality for anyone. He accepted him as he was.
The rock announced in an interview that he will never drop his ring name i.e., The Rock because he believes that he can be accepted for the movies as he is. He would play his rles being himself.
