CD Projekt Red Takes Responsibility for Cyberpunk 2077 & Defends His Developers

One of this winter’s most anticipated new games, Cyberpunk 2077 resulted in a complete debacle, and CD Projekt Red revealed they’re just as frustrated and angry as the consumers.

The game is riddled with bugs on console versions thereby proving to be a complete disaster. In the wake of the controversy, even Sony has removed Cyberpunk 2077 from its online store.

The Controversy

Two different law firms have already announced in December, that they were filing suit against the developer and publisher CD Projekt Red.

On grounds that the company violated securities law by deceiving the consumers and investors regarding the state of Cyberpunk 2077 and whether it would be playable on current-generation consoles, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Amidst the controversy, the CDPR joint-CEO Adam Kiciński said, “We underestimated the scale and complexity of the issues, we ignored the signals about the need for additional time to refine the game on the base last-gen consoles”.

Joint-CEO Marcin Iwiński said,

“We were updating the game on last-gen consoles until the very last minute, and we thought we’d make it in time. Unfortunately, this resulted in giving it to reviewers just one day before the release, which was definitely too late, and the media didn’t get the chance to review it properly. That was not intended; we were just fixing the game until the very last moment.”

However, despite everything, Cyberpunk 2077 has already made huge sales and CDPR have decided to grant their employees the full share of bonuses without considering the review scores. It is available on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Stadia. Cyberpunk 2077 is all set to be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2021.
