The highly anticipated film series Scream 5 is now the talk of the town as the 13 Reasons Why alum Dylan Minnette is about to join the cast of this upcoming movie from Spyglass and Paramount Pictures.
The Scream franchise has officially confirmed this news, through a post on Twitter. Even Minnette has tweeted, saying: “[Scream] is one of my favorite movies/franchises of all time and I honestly could not be more excited to be a part of this.”
Release date
The potential release date for the film is January 14, 2022. The first Scream movie was released in 1996 and was a big hit.
Cast
The plot is written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick; and the directors are Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. Kevin Williamson will be serving as the executive producer of the upcoming movie. The film will see the return of Neve Campbell who has already announced her return through an Instagram post, writing “Hello again, Sidney… #ImBack,”. The 46 year old actress will be joined by fellow original stars, David Arquette and Courteney Cox.
Deadline reported that besides Minnette, actors like Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Kyle Gallner, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Jack Quaid, Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega will also be featured in Sream 5.
Co-star Arquette said, “I am thrilled to be playing Dewey again and to reunite with my Scream family, old and new. Scream has been such a big part of my life, and for both the fans and myself, I look forward to honoring Wes Craven’s legacy.”
Plot
Not much is known regarding the plot, but the production is all set to begin this year in Wilmington, North Carolina keeping in mind the safety protocols.
