Sex and The City Reboot is Happening But Without Kim Cattrall, Streaming Next Year on HBO Max

HBO Max confirmed that a new Sex and the City rebook is currently on the works, and will debut on the streaming platform next year. Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis will return to portray their iconic characters. However, the fourth main character from the original TV series and subsequent films will not make her appearance in the upcoming reboot series.

Kim Catrall, who portrays Samantha Jones, a confident and sex-positive businesswoman, will not reprise her role in the reboot. HBO Max also revealed the Sex and the City revival series will be titled And Just Like That… without Catrall. The reboot series will consist of 10 episodes and the filming will commence sometime later in 2021. As of now, we don’t know whether HBO will recast Samantha’s character or not.

The 64-year-old actress won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Samantha Jones. But now, she has no desire to play Samantha Jones anymore. Catrall has herself publicly revealed that she doesn’t wish to play Samantha anymore and return to Sex and the City. Fans believe that the reason for her dis-involvement maybe because of the public feud and fallout with co-star Sarah Jessica Parker.

Sarah and Catrall had troubles since the conclusion of Sex and the City TV series, back in 2004. The reports also mentioned that the pay dispute caused the series to conclude early. Even though Catrall had a feud with Sarah, which they denied, they went on to appear in two sequel films in 2008 and 2010. A third SATC movie was also in the works, set to release in 2016.

However, Catrall opted out of the project and the film got cancelled. She reportedly didn’t like the fate of a certain character in the third film and didn’t wish to involve herself. Later, in an interview with Pierce Morgan, she revealed that turning 60 held her back. She added that the show was best during its original run and when the two films released.
