Victoria Leigh Blum, popularly known as Tanya Roberts, was confirmed dead by media on January 5. The 65 year old actress was famous for her stunt as a Bond Girl alongside Roger Moore. She is survived by her long time partner Lance O’Brien and her sister Barbara Blum Chase.
A Glance at Roberts’ Career
Roberts started out as a model for advertisements like Excedrin, Ultra Brite, and Cool Ray Sunglasses. She also worked in off-Broadway projects like Picnic and Antigone. She was also an Arthur Murray dance instructor.
Her first movie was Forced Entry(1975), also known as The Last Victim. She also appeared in the comedy movie The Yum Yum Girls(1976).
She was also a part of a few TV pilots like Zuma Beach(1978), Pleasure Cove(1979) and Waikiki(1980). During this time, she moved with her husband Barry Roberts to Hollywood, where Barry could work on his screenwriting career as well.
In the 1980s, Roberts was cast to play April Rogers, a street fighter in the fifth season of Charlie’s Angels. Despite being one of the more notable works, her presence could not lift the falling ratings of the show, eventually getting cancelled. In 1985, she appeared in the James Bond movie A View to a Kill, which shot her to fame.
In the 1990s, she worked in Inner Sanctum(1991), Sins of Desire(1993). She later appeared in the 1998 series That 70’s Show as Midge Pinciotti. Because Barry was terminally ill, she left the series in 2001.
After that, she did a few more projects before retiring in 2005. She was active on social media during the COVID pandemic via Facebook and Zoom. Prior to her death, her net worth has been estimated as $10 million.
Tanya Roberts’ Relationship History
Roberts first marriage was in her teen years when she hitchhiked across the United States. The marriage was annulled as Roberts’s mother insisted so. In 1974, she married Barry Roberts, who she met when he was a psychology student and she was auditioning for a movie. Barry passed in 2006 due to encephalitis. They had no children.
She was in a relationship with Lance O’Brien until her death.
Cause of Death
On December 24 2020, Roberts collapsed from bed and could not get up, followed by breathing issues and intestinal pain. She was hospitalised at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in LA and was put under life support.
She had a medical history of Hepatitis C and was currently suffering from a urinary tract infection that spread into her organs and her bloodstream. The aggravated illness made her condition critical.
Her partner Lance visited her on January 3, and told her manager that he had said her goodbye. News of her death spread until Lance clarified that she was still alive.
However, after a few hours, he was eventually informed by the hospital about her death on January 4, which he conveyed to the media the next day.
