Robert Rodriguez, with a budget of 3.5 Crores USD created ‘The Adventures Of Sharkboy And LavaGirl’ back in the year 2005. It was about a 10-year-old boy who had a bad experience of schooling due to all the bullying that happened to him. He gets recruited by two superheroes called Sharkboy and LavaGirl in order to save the planet from evil.
Shark boy is a hybrid character between a shark and a boy after losing his father who was a Marine biologist and being raised by sharks. LavaGirl on the other hand has the powers to create and produce Fire and Lava. However, she faces a hard time trying to be normal and touch things without setting them ablazed.
This time, Rodriguez made another movie based on these characters as an ode to family time for them to watch it together during Christmas 2020. However, the only difference this time? We do not see Taylor Lautner returning in this movie? Keep reading to know why!
Why hasn’t Taylor Lautner returned as SharkBoy?
According to Rodriguez in an interview, he claims that the role of Sharkboy in this movie is not grand enough to touch the potential of Lautner. Since this movie is not exactly a sequel of the Sharkboy and Lavagirl adventures, the role of Sharkboy is with very less dialogues and he will be wearing a mask at all times.
He says that post Twilight, Lautner was a huge hit, due to which this role as Sharkboy will not be a huge spotlight for him. This reason seems to make sense because Taylor’s fans went gaga over his role of ‘Jacob’ from Twilight. For them to see him in a role that does not help us see his real talent is kind of a step down for Lautner.
So, what is Lautner doing now?
Lautner’s career took quiet a dip post the release of the famous Twilight series. His role of Jacob Black has taken over him which has made it difficult for him to find another role which fits him just right.
His movie ‘Abduction’ released in 2011, then another in 2016 ‘Run The Tide’ was a flop. Since, 2018 Taylor has not been seen in another role in any series or movies. However, he is not alone here.
Taylor has been seen with a California Nurse Taylor Dome since 2018, when they were introduced to each other through her sister who was also friends with Taylor Lautner. Even though Lautner’s professional life has been a little off track.
His love life has taken an upturn as both of them continue to shower their love on each other which is quite evident through their social media as well.
