One of the longest-serving football coaches of the Coalfield High School, Keith Henry has suddenly passed away on Saturday morning. Henry had coached the Yellow Jackets’ as a head coach for 12 years. His unfortunate passing was reported by the Coalfield High School’s athletic director. Henry passed away after suffering complications from the COVID-19.
Coalfield High School was performing decently under his mentorship. Henry led the Yellow Jackets undefeated for the whole regular season. The team finished the same season 12-1, which is the best record in the school’s football history. In the same season, the team managed to reach the Tennessee state semifinals. The record is regarded as the best record of the Coalfield High School till date.
Keith Henry coached the team starting from 2008 until his death in 2020. He had coached few notable football players in the state of Tennesse. Tennessee Titans Mr Football winners — Zach Stewart and Parker McKinney — were coached by Henry. Stewart played as Offensive Linemen in 2013-14 season while McKinney played as Quarterback in 2017 season. McKinney currently plays for the Eastern Kentucky Colonels Football, representing Eastern Kentucky University.
Coalfield’s AD asks to pray for his soul
After announcing the tragic death of the football coach, AD Shawn Basler asked the community to pray for his departed soul. He even asked to keep him in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Basler praised for Henry’s work while he was coaching for the High School and mentioned that he was a good man. The football team will soon hold a tribute event for their beloved coach’s death.
Before his apparent death, the Yellow Jackets were leading the table of Tenessee’s 1A Region 2 District with 13-1 record.
