Zendaya Confirms Euphoria is Returning on HBO Max, But IT IS NOT SEASON 2

Fans of the American teen drama, Euphoria has been waiting for the second season since the first season’s finale episode. HBO reportedly renewed the show for Season 2 but looks like we aren’t getting it in 2020. Now, Zendeya, who portrays the lead Rue Bennett in the series confirmed that there is special Euphoria content for fans this year. But again, it is not the much anticipated second season.

Zendeya literally teased a poster that writes “This is not Season 2”, meaning the fans are offered with special episodes. HBO reportedly ordered two special episodes for the holiday season before the release of Season 2. The first special episode is titled Part 1: Rue on the poster shared by Zendeya. However, HBO confirmed the title of the first special will be Trouble Don’t Last Always.

The special episode of the Emmy award-winning television series will start streaming on December 6, 2020, on HBO Max.

Trouble Don’t Last Always will pick from the cliffhanger ending of the first season finale. Moreover, the episode will focus on the show’s lead character, Rue. In the previous season finale, Rue and Jules rekindle after Rue recovers from the kidney failure. But later Jules tells Rue that she is in love with Anna as well. They both decide to leave town together, but Rue backs out in the final moment. Rue leaves Jules, who already boarded the train and goes home.

Rue experiences hallucination after she snorts cocaine and then relapses. The special will most probably tell what happened to Rue after relapsing. HBO’s synopsis also claims that Rue would be celebrating the holiday season in the special. As for the second special, there hasn’t been any official word. Some sources believe that the special may release next year in February.

Some hints and fan theories claim that the second special may be about Jules. When Zendeya previously announced the arrival of two specials, she confirmed the news with Hunter Schafer’s eye. And, Euphoria Season 2 is still far away from the release, as the filming won’t begin before early 2021.
