His Dark Materials Season 2 is currently airing on BBC One within the UK and all internationally on HBO. Bad Wolf and New Line Productions adapted the web television series from the popular novel series by English novelist, Sir Philip Pullman. His Dark Materials’ first season released in November 2019 and received positive reviews from the viewers. The producers decided to renew the series for the second season even before the release of the first season.
The story revolves around an orphaned girl, Lyra Belacqua who is living with the scholars in the Jordan College, Oxford. His Dark Materials is a fantasy drama that is set in a multi-world reality. Every human in the shows’ world has animal companions known as dæmons. Lyra’s dæmon Pantalaimon and it is also her closest friend along with Roger Parslow. She later discovers that Lord Asriel Belacqua — whom she has been admiring as an uncle — is actually her father. Lyra also discovers a chilling mystery between Lord Asriel and Marisa Coulter.
In the latest episode, titled The Cave, Lyra encounters Lord Boreal in Will’s world under the alias Charles Latrom. Lyra and her dæmon have arrived in another world after stepping in the portal back in their world. Will met his mother and grandparents in Oxford. His grandparents requested him to find his fathers letters and then attempted to hand him or to authorities.
The Alethiometer asks Lyra to help Will.
However, Will escapes and meets Lyra. She showed him the alethiometer and revealed that the device has told her to help Will. Lyra wanted to know more details about the physicist’s research and decides to go back to the laboratory. Despite the alethiometer telling her to help Will in finding his father, she intends to go back to the laboratory. As a result of disobeying the alethiometer advice, she puts herself and Will in grave danger.
The next episode is releasing on 30 November 2020 and Leanne Welham is handling the direction. After going against the alethiometer advice, Will and Lyra are facing dangerous consequences. Lord Boreal steals the alethiometer from them and threatens them that he know their identities. He then asks them to bring him a knife from a tower in Cittagàzze, if they want the alethiometer back.
