Scarlett Johansson All Set To Star In Apple’s And A24’s “Bride”.

Scarlett Johansson is all set to star in Bride, a “genre-bending” film from Apple and A24. Sebastián Lelio, who has helmed female-fronted films like the Oscar-winning A Fantastic Woman, Disobedience, and Gloria, has been tapped to direct the feature, which he’s writing with Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo.

Johansson is currently awaiting the release of her Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie “Black Widow”. The movie, which was originally scheduled to open worldwide earlier this year, will now release in May 2021.

The movie joins Apple and A24’s feature films under their first-look partnership, including the soon-to-premiere “On the Rocks” from Sofia Coppola, and “The Sky Is Everywhere” starring Cherry Jones and Jason Segel. Apple Original Films will also debut Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon,” toplined by Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro; “Emancipation” from director Antoine Fuqua, and starring and produced by Will Smith; “Swan Swan” starring Mahershala Ali and Naomie Harris; “Snow Blind” with Jake Gyllenhaal; and “Sharper” starring and produced by Julianne Moore.

Johansson also added that “It is long overdue for Bride to step out of the shadow of her male counterpart and stand alone. Working alongside Rebecca Angelo and Lauren Schuker Blum, Sebastian and I are extremely excited to emancipate this classic anti-heroine and reanimate her story to reflect the change we see today.”
